Flies serve as carriers of disease agents due to their predilection for feeding on animal waste, garbage and human foods. House flies are known to carry bacteria and viruses that cause conditions such as diarrhea, cholera, food poisoning, dissents, and eye infections.
It’s only when they appear in large numbers that they become a cause for concern. And this is usually the case for two reasons. Either there is infested food matter somewhere in your home or there is the carcass of a dead animal in which the flies have laid their eggs.
Sanitation is Everything
Sanitation is the most effective and important step in reducing the
number of flies in your home. Dry and wrap organic waste before placing it in the garbage can. Flies rely on a certain amount of moisture to effectively lay their eggs.
If you suspect a fly infestation in your home we recommend that you contact a pest management professional to come out for a free inspection and see what can be done about it.
